Shadows
Shadows lie to live,
tell us we’re taller, thinner,
flat as the earth was once
stalking us when our backs
are turned.
Even the sun lies,
its radiance assigns
pools in deserts, floats
false diamonds on the sea,
refracts retinal images
upside down.
Poised between liars,
we’re dazzled to believe
we’re not alone.
